A classic ridge climb



After a few years, where I had divided my summer holiday equally between mountain climbing in the Alps and hiking in Lappland, I decided in 1984 to spend my whole summer holiday, all six weeks, in the Alps. With so much time at my disposal, I could easily have time enough to visit more destinations, and my first aim was to visit Göscheneralp above Göschenen in Central Switzerland. Our base camp for this week was a wild camping among grazing cattle and goats below the small village of Gwüest.
