El Castillejo

One of the first days I had made a run to Famara, one of the best beaches on Lanzarote, but where anyone else would praise the vast and empty sandy beach, stretching for miles, to me it was something quite different that caught my eye, namely the large mountain massif, forming the background of the beach. Peñas del Chache was the name of this massif, and made up the highest point of the island as well. And towards Famara towered a steep rockface, summiting in El Castillejo, from which a very interesting-looking ridge dropped directly down to the beach. In this moment I knew that I just had to climb this ridge before leaving Lanzarote.
