| Oberrothorn is well known for being the highest hiking mountain in the Alps, and as the mountain is easily accessible with the cable car to Unterrothorn, there are a lot of people climbing it at summertime. But, strange enough, in the winter there is no-one attempting to climb this mountain, in spite of it being the easiest mountain of all to reach from Zermatt. Thus it was a strange feeling to ascend the wide snow slope without any trace of footsteps, while at the same time we could hear the noise from the activities on the ski runs further down the mountain. |
