I had hoped for a good view from the summit, a view to Lagginhorn further north and a mountain I had not planned to climb yet, as well as across Saastal to Mischabel and maybe even Monte Rosa, and down south over Italy, as it is said, that on days with a perfect view, it should be possible to spot the top of the cathedral in Milan! But this morning a pair of radar eyes would be needed to enjoy these views. I have seen it so often, that as soon as the sun begin to light up the Po basin, the clouds start to rise, and mostly you can see neither the Po basin nor Milan for clouds. And today was no exception, as the clouds had been boiling over the east-facing slopes so long, that the clouds were now gushing across the passes north and south of me. And even though I had perfect blue sky above me, there was not much of a view from the summit of Weissmies. But on the way down, an opportune hole in the clouds appeared, revealing this view to the mountains of Portjengrat. These mountains had till now been totally neglected by me, but I don't need to see mountains like these for a long time before I feel an urge to fiddle with them. |
