| The first day brought us up past the steep flanks above the Rhône valley, through the small isolated village Chibo d'En Haut and up through the gradually more deserted valley L'Etra till we reached a large flat hollow high in the valley. Probably this in former days had been a lake, which now was sanded up, and I found the place excellent for a first bivouac site. |
