| The most well-known mountain in Berchtesgaden is undoubtesly Watzmann, which almost can be considered a national symbol of Bavaria and South Germany. Certainly Zugspitze is the highest mountain of Germany and more than 200 metres higher than Watzmann's 2713m, but Watzmann is a much more outstanding mountain than Zugspitze, especially when seen from Berchtesgaden. Watzman can also boast Bartholomäwand, the highest mountain face of the Eastern Alps, dropping 1800 vertical metres to Bartholomä and Königssee. |
