| Obviously I also in 1993 should participate in the race from Sierre to Zinal. With time I had got the impression, that Sierre-Zinal is considered as something special among mountain races in Switzerland. Certainly this race has 'only' a distance of 31 kms, but there is an ascent of 2100 metres along this route and a descent of about 900 metres. Thus there hardly ain't any level metres between the departure on the main road down in the Rhone valley and the finish on the main street in Zinal. The quality and the fame of this race make that this race it looked upon as the Queen of mountain races. |
