Pikes Peak Marathon

We took the flight to Denver fourteen days before the race was to take place, and spent most of the time to get adjusted to the altitude. I generally don't have any problems in an altitude of 4000 metres, but there is a difference between going for a walk on a mountain and running up the top of it. Half the preparation time we spent around Breckenridge, which in itself had an elevation of more than 3000 metres, and from here we then could ascend some of the nearby 4000-metre peaks.
