Running below Hoosier Pass

In August 2006 I had travelled for a couple of weeks to Colorado together with my running mate Martin, to participate in America's ultimate running challenge, Pikes Peak Marathon, which is a marathon from Manitou Springs up to the summit of the 4299 metres high Pikes Peak and the same way down again. As a major part of the preparation for this enervating race I deemed it necessary that we should do some altitude training and spend some time in high altitude, and therefore we the week before the race had booked a holiday apartment in Breckenridge, 2927 metres above the surface of the sea.
