Ascent of Alphubel

Approaching Alphubel from Allalinpass was in itself a little unusual, as Alphubeljoch, being the starting point for far the most ascents of the mountain, can very easily be reached from the east as well as from west. But we were approaching from the south, giving us the challenge of finding the best route across the glacier before reaching the track coming up from the Täsch hut. This day we really enjoyed the advantage of having a camp high in the mountains, as it didn't take more than an hour and a half before we were standing at the foot of Alphubel, looking very attractive in the frosty cold sky with no clouds at all.
