The highest 3000-metre peak in the Alps

These mountains are all situated on a high plateau on the Italian border, and in a central position for all summit trips, the small Marco e Rosa hut is placed, our first goal to reach. Several routes lead up through the icefall delimiting the plateau from the valley, but we chose to climb up the route by the Fortezza ridge, not the easiest of routes, as there was a fair amount of climbing in snow-covered rocks on the way, but at least we were in a safe distance from the icefalls here.
