Valley of thirst

The target for this trip was Aconcagua, the highest mountain on the South-American continent, and Jacob had five years before tried to climb it with an other partner, but had been forced to turn back about 500 metres below the summit. But Jacob and I knew each other well from numerous other climbs, and the whole planning went very relaxed. Three mails and a handfull of text messages, then this trip was settled. We were set down on a dusty plain at the foot of the Vacas valley - from here there was a walk-in of three long days to the foot of Aconcagua.
