But with time we gradually got used to, that from time to time we temporarily had to stop the hike so we could cross the river. Actually it was easier that I had not brought any footwear for wading rivers and thus just had to continue the hike in the same shoes I just had crossed the river in. But after the crossings I mostly stopped to take off my shoes and wring as much water as possible out of shoes and socks before I donned the shoes again.
