The trip to Switzerland in 1980, where I did a round trip from Basel to Bern and on to Grindelwald, Luzern, Zürich, Buchs, Vaduz in Liechtenstein and back to Basel, inspired me to have a closer look on Switzerland. Because Lappland, where I had my first hike in the summer of 1980, was now established as a solid cornerstone for my summer activities. But why only hike in the summer? In Switzerland it ought to be possible to also hike in the autumn, because in October there certainly is more light than in Lappland, so this was what I did in 1981. And the same time ascended my first mountain, Faulhorn.
