Ascent of Mount Democrat

As part of the altitude adaption I had thought about a list of trips we should do in the first two weeks here, and after having started with a few days at a high-altitude lake in Rampart Range followed by a visit to Barr Camp and an introductional ascent of Pikes Peak we had now arrived at Kite Lake at an elevation of above 12'000 feet or 3664 metres. This lake was surrounded by four mountains of an elevation of more than 4000 metres, and where I the day before had ascended the three highest of them I had reserved the last one for today. Partly because I had the feeling that it deserved its own ascent and partly because it appeared natural to ascend it separately.
